OKUMA ALUMINA REEL AL-273VLXA

OKUMA ALUMINA REELS AL-273VLXA

Product Description
OKUMA
ALUMINA LOW-PROFILE BAITCASTING REELS
Hitting homeruns from either side of the plate, the Alumina low-profile baitcast reel serves up a rigid aluminum frame that centers and controls a high-speed 7.3:1 gear ratio in models for either right or left hand cranking. A six bearing drive system is born to cast, and even assists the effort with dual cast control systems: an external adjustable magnetic system working in concert with an internal 8-pin velocity control system. From the lightest finesse to the heaviest power fishing techniques, Alumina is designed to alleviate casting issues so you can focus on the presentation.

This is my first baitcast reel.

I wanted to service this reel for a long time but i was waiting for my spool pin remover to arrive.
While tinkering with the reel, i removed the cast control cap and found some salt deposits inside.

I've been using this reel for both freshwater and some light saltwater action.

Here goes.

Removed the handle

Making sure i removed the washers in the correct order.

Main gear

Main gear and drag washers removed.

Parts ready for cleaning.

Drag washers and main gears removed.

Pinion.  I didn't bother removing the plate from the pinion gear.

Greased and ready for reassembly.

Here is the video after re-assembly....working like new...
