Two friends ask me to look at their Avocet.  Both reels have yet to be serviced and one was still quiet and smooth while the other has two busted bearings which needs to be replaced. 

The drag washers.

Drive gear bearing.  See the rust build up.  I was lucky enough to clean this bearing.  But for the others, they needed replacement.

The dirty grease.

Pinion gears and bearings.  These two bearings are shot.

The anti-reverse bearing still works.

After cleaning, you can see and feel the difference.

Oscillating gear greased.

Pinion gear cleaned and for the mean time i greased the bearings lightly.
